Orthodontics is a decisive factor in setting the course for later oral health. The earlier the better - this motto therefore also applies to the visit to the orthodontist. In the friendly ambience of our practice rooms, our trained staff deal with all questions and the fears of our young patients with a great deal of empathy. Misalignments and developmental disorders of the jaw and teeth can be detected and treated as early as kindergarten age. The German Society for Orthodontics recommends, for example, the correction of the crossbite in the milk dentition in order to prevent growth inhibition or growth impairment of the jaws as well as an asymmetrical development of the jaw joints.
Our practice offers early treatment for patients from the age of 4. Preventive intervention can counteract bad habits such as thumb sucking, positively intervene in speech development, correct disorders in the coordination of the tongue and mouth/facial muscles, and also help with breathing problems. As a result, later orthodontic treatment can often be shortened or avoided.
Every treatment is preceded by a comprehensive diagnosis. We take a particularly long time for the initial consultation. In this way, we find the optimal form of therapy for the individual needs and wishes of our patients. Using modern imaging techniques (radiation-reduced digital X-ray examination, portrait images, simulation programs) and denture scans (digital impression taking) or impressions/plaster models (conventional impression taking), therapy options are explained in a comprehensible manner - because no two dentures are alike. We recommend what should be treated from a medical point of view and tell you what can be achieved aesthetically. Only after your approval does the orthodontic treatment take place. And in the end, we enjoy the success together, which is documented by our before-and-after photos of your smile.
We would be happy to advise you in our practice - you will find us in Meerbusch-Büderich.
In adolescents, the correction of malpositioned teeth and jaws in the mixed dentition is usually done with removable braces. In the permanent dentition, fixed braces, so-called multiband appliances, are used depending on the indication for the regulation of the tooth position. In this case, the individual teeth are fitted with brackets and connected to each other by a wire. The fixed braces allow the teeth to move evenly as far as possible without the patient's cooperation. This is followed by the stabilization phase with a removable appliance to permanently fix the new position of the teeth in the bone. In addition, a retainer (a thin wire behind the front teeth) ensures that the perfect tooth position is maintained. In the case of fixed braces, we offer both: lingual braces, which are not visible from the outside and visible braces. Lingual braces are very popular among young people because of their visual and aesthetic advantages, while parents are convinced by the reduced risk of tooth decay.
